AYS Wine & Sake Consultancy is the approved programme provider for WSET (Wine & Spirits Education Trust UK).

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET and WSET Awards) is an awarding body and registered charity devoted to the development and delivery of

qualifications and courses in wines and spirits. Established in 1969 for the UK wine trade, WSET has since grown to become the global industry leader.

As an independent, not-for-profit organisation, our educational products offer impartial and sound learning on which individuals and businesses can build

knowledge and expertise. WSET qualifications are available through a network of over 600 Approved Programme

Providers (APPs) working in over 70 countries and 19 languages.

ABOUT AYS

Anthony & Siva are the persons responsible for the existence of AYS WINE & SAKE CONSULTANCY. Both believe and have the same passion in bringing people together to educate, explore and to share the knowledge for Wine, Sake and Spirits.

Anthony; A mechanical engineer by training, from a prestigious Japanese university and with hands-on leadership roles in US Fortune 500 and Malaysian public listed companies, Anthony has brought with him the adventurous spirit of an entrepreneur and leadership combined with the analytical skills of an engineer. Anthony possesses a strong passion for wine and is continuously upgrading himself through academic certifications and hands-on exposures at winery visits and trade shows. Having spent many years in Japan and Australia, Anthony brings with him the global exposure in providing the best quality, tailored services customised to fit every individual, in a unique and innovative way. Anthony holds a Level 4 WSET Diploma in Wines & Spirits, acquiring his knowledge from the prestigious WSET London School and also a WSET Certified Educator. He is also a Certified WSET Sake Educator and one of the first WSET accredited Sake specialist in South East Asia and co-founded AYS Wine & Sake Co., actively sharing his passion for wine, spirits and sake education and consulting for the F&B industry.

Siva has 18 years of experience in sales and marketing in the banking & education sectors and vast experience in operating and managing WSET courses in one of the leading private university’s in Malaysia. Throughout his career in the industry, he learnt the art of interacting with people from all walks of life, building lasting relationships with clients, and most importantly how to be committed. Today, Siva is focused towards imparting that knowledge through training and consultancy in F&B industry especially in Wines.

Anthony LC Yeong

Sally Shackleton

Sally holds her WSET Level 3 Award in Wines with distinction. Formerly an exploration and mining geologist. Sally completed a post graduate degree in Viticulture and Enology in 2017 at Curtin University’s Margaret River campus and has since worked as a winemaker, traveling for harvests to various wine regions around the world. Sally has experience in the winery, cellar, vineyard and laboratory and loves the challenge that each vintage presents. Sally is from Australia and relocated to Malaysia with her husband and two cats in 2019. She is always excited at the prospect of tasting a new wine and sharing her passion.

Wee Shien Loong

Shien developed his passion for wine in 2010 during his Bachelors of InternationalHospitality Management. Eager to build on his then newfound love for wines, hepursued and completed his Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 2 in 2012, on top of his demanding schedule during his Bachelors that includes Beverage Studies and Oenology Studies.

Upon graduation in 2013, he started as a management trainee at Mandarin Oriental,Kuala Lumpur, and was convinced that he wanted to spend his life in the wines and spirits. He signed on after his apprenticeship and began a grueling 4-year stint that eventually took him to the management position where his responsibilities include selecting and curating the beverage list for the hotel and the honour of guarding the Hotel’s prized fine wine cellar.

As part of his never-ending thirst for wine knowledge, he completed his WSET Level 3 in 2017. Now, he works in a beverage company, Fermented Grape Juice, spending his time advising customers on pairings, selection and organising wine events for its wine members.

Zoe Gan

Zoe Gan obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in International Hospitality Management at Sunway University Malaysia.
She has successfully acquired the Wine and Spirit Educational Trust (WSET) Level 3 Award in Wines.
With her sensory skills, she has completed a Sensory Skills Professional awarded by SCA.
Zoe’s past working experience in Singapore Furama City Centre Hotel and Hilton Kuala Lumpur. Currently, she is working at Entier French Dining Restaurant at Alila Hotel Kuala Lumpur as a professional Sommelier.
With past experiences and knowledge, she is able to convey the history of the wines as well as the story of the wine from winemakers to consumers. In addition, she is involved in training and actively sharing her passion to all the wine enthusiasts.

Chris Yeoh

Chris; Wine Specialist and certified sommelier is from Penang; she has developed her passion for wine when she was 17 years old. Eager to build newfound love for wines, she decided to pursuit WSET Level 2 award in wines & Spirits in 2013 and follow by WSET Level 3 Award in Wines in 2015. She is awarded a distinction for both Level 2&3. Chris possesses a strong passion for wine and has spent many years in Australia and United Kingdom, where she has exposure to winery visit, tasting and trade shows. She loves to share her passion in wines especially to her friends and associates in Penang. In order to continue her passion in wines, she has pursued Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) in 2017. This certification is widely recognized by international wine and spirits industry.

Dr Daniel Chong

Dr Daniel Chong, is a senior lecturer at Sunway University with more than 12 years of experience in wine training and education. He has a French degree in tourism and hospitality; an Australian Master of Business Administration (MBA); and a PHD in services branding under his belt. Advancing from his technical foundation as a hotelier, he obtained his WSET Level 3 in wine and spirit. He is also a certified Master Barista by Illy Universita Della Trieste, Italy. Lately, he has added a professional title of “Certified Hospitality Trainer CHT®” by The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI).
Besides teaching, Dr Daniel Chong is also actively involved in wine research and has published several research articles pertaining to the challenges and opportunities faced by the wine industry in Asia. Prior to education line, Dr. Daniel Chong has worked in the food and beverage industry as an operation manager, F&B consultant, and training manager at various multinational hotel groups, multinational franchised restaurants and a hospitality consulting firm. His move into academia was driven by his passion to teach, having realized an urgent need to groom industry-ready graduates. His commitment towards student’s skill development has helped students and the university to garner multiple awards at both international and national levels (Culinaire Malaysia 2009, 2011, 2013; MLA Australia, 2014; Milano Challenge, 2012, 2014; Monin Championships, 2012, 2014)
